Wow. Having some serious problems getting things to load all of a sudden.
Anyway...somebody must have been listening earlier...it had been raining cats and dogs for nearly half an hour and it was utterly GORGEOUS. Just a steady pour of the most beautiful sunlit rain coming out of a clear, sunny sky. (where else, but Texas?) And the way it slanted through the oaks, turning the trunks black and their parasols of leaves a bright, rich green...just stunning. Made me think of Nacogdoches in the spring...my favourite time of year there.
Now, even thought the rain has mostly stopped and it's become so humid that some of my windows are fogging over, it's still awe inspiring. The setting sun is slanting through the treetops, making each drip of water look like plummeting diamonds, and there is the most amazing mist---steam, really---rising through the boughs. Never would have imagined an ending like this to such a crappy day.
Thanks, God.

classical violin
hello there! this comment is in answer to a plea you left on john's blog. :) i do indeed play the violin a bit, though piano is my primary instrument. what sort of classical violin are you interested in? do you want solo violin? orchestra, such as concertos and what not? chamber music? but here's a couple of things for starters. one cd i personally own that i LOVE is called "essential classics." i have no idea if you'll be able to find it under that name, so i'll tell you the pieces that are on it. all the stuff is by peter tchaikovsky. Concerto for Piano & Orchestra No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23 takes up the first three tracks, and about 35 minutes. next is Concerto for Violin & Orchestra in D Major, Op. 35, which takes up the last three tracks and another 35 minutes. if you can't find this specific cd, i recommend the second concerto i mentioned if you can locate it anywhere. if you're looking for flashy virtuosic solo repertoire, then nicolo paganini is always impressive. just look for anything by paganini and you should be blown away. i have one cd with this on it: 24 Capricci per Violino Solo, Op. 1. good stuff. of course there are so many things by beethoven, brahms, mozart, bach, vivaldi, etc, that are all wonderful. ah, bach just reminded me: i highly recommend the Brendonburgh Concerto by him. don't remember what key it's in, sorry. if you have any interest in fiddle music as well as classical violin, then get something that mark o'connor has played. he's considered about the best fiddle player alive today. and this comment has stretched on plenty long enough. i hope this is of some assistance, and feel free to ask more! i do also have a blog if you would like to contact me there, or find my email address, which is also there. feel free to read!~jordan
